Pros

You get appreciated by most customers. It is a job I guess.

Cons

Poor management. You have the impression that nobody else works apart from yourself ?? You might be right. The office seems like a getaway for some people. Do not call the stores to inquire for a certain item. Employees get told to lie ( "I am so sorry but we do not have that item in the store!") and put the caller on hold for no reason, other than being careless. Have I mentioned poor management ?

Pros

The atmosphere is very fast paced.

Cons

The stores across the country function as slightly controlled chaos. Senior Management talks in meeting after meeting about fixing the problems that are apparent to everyone - however they have no clue what it is like operating a store under the unrealistic parameters - nor do they care to know. Best bet for career at Ross is to get a promotion and get out while you can. The business model is built around turnover - and it has constantly chewed people up for the last 7-9 years that I have been familiar with it. Todays Hero is tomorrow's failure - ask anyone who's no longer there.

Pros

Stability during economic uncertainty Potential room for internal growth within the company dependent on manager approval and favoritism from higher ups although they have made it harder to get promoted

Cons

Really dependent on managers of the team but many people experienced a toxic work environment and left the company or ended up being pushed out Culture is nonexistent and upper management pushes DEI but does not actually translate down to the teams; talented POC often pushed out of the company and not given the same respect or support of their peers Be prepared to be berated and yelled at depending on your managers Constant pressure to do better but rarely rewarded or acknowledged for the successes Terrible work-life balance, many associates working nights and/or weekends
