Pros

Health insurance is really good, the 401k is terrible as you must wait 3 years until you are eligible to receive the 0.35/$1 up to 8% gross match, you start seeing it in your account after 90 days - however they take it back if you voluntarily leave before 3 years.

Cons

VERY demanding. Asked to work overtime frequently. The pay is average or a little on the low side.

Roush’s vesting schedule for the 401(k) plan company match is consistent with industry standards and is designed to encourage and reward longevity with the company. Employees are always fully vested and able to take 100% of what they have contributed to the 401(k) if they leave. They are able to take 50% of the company match if they leave after two plan years and 100% of the company match if they leave after three plan years. While we understand that our employees will seek other opportunities, we hope that they choose to stay with us for the long term.

Pros

The company has many locations in the Detroit, MI area. A variety of work possibilities.

Cons

You are expendable. Even as a direct employee you are treated as a contractor who can be kicked to the curb at a moments notice. If you are not working on a billable project for 5 days you will be laid-off. Their performance review system does not give fair evaluation of your work. DON'T EVER SIGN YOUR PR. The company is full of back-stabbers. Don't even think of working for this crappy company.

Great Opportunity!

Pros

Roush is a great opportunity and provides (i) a competitive salary, (ii) cross-functional experience, and (iii) a can-do attitude. Roush is not a place that will pay a salary much higher than the market value of an employee. I see this as a strength and am knowledgeable about the compensation levels within the company. Roush is a forward-looking company with emphasis on long-term financial sustainability. The benefits of this approach to the employee is a much higher probability of a job when the market turns south. In 2008-09, Roush was able to attain a much high percentage of employees than other players within the markets they participate in. Roush also provides cross-functional leadership due to the nature of the organizational structure. It is entrepreneurial-minded and will give you a lot of opportunities to grow as an engineer and business professional. You can easily work within engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and other functions in a short period of time. Roush has a can-do company culture. Roush has grown (revenue growth) significantly in the past ten years and is still growing at record rates; this has been accomplished by a can-do attitude and Roush is not afraid to take on a challenging project in a new market or take on a difficult customer with high expectations. This allows the employee to work in several markets and on exciting projects. In addition, if an employee has a good idea - with a business plan to back it - the leadership team is always willing to listen to pursue the idea.

Cons

Formal Training: Roush does not provide a lot of formal training; however, if you are a person who takes initiative, understands his/her weaknesses, and identifies a training course to improve the weakness then Roush will financial support the training. Like many other aspects of the company, you will need to take the first step.
