Pros

I have been at Roux for 25 years, and have stayed because it is a very employee-oriented company. I have never felt the need to test the job market. They believe in giving as much as possible back to employees to share in the profits and reward good work. Lot's of perks. Bonuses, incentive programs, happy hours, company picnics, holiday parties, provide lunches and breakfast several days a week, charity events. They actively seek to hire top people and do expect a lot from the employees, but reward them with opportunities for growth and promotions. Privately held, which is a huge plus.

Cons

Work is challenging and demanding, so if you like to cruise through the day, this is probably not the place for you. Expect to spend most of your time in the field and traveling if you come in at the entry level. You will get a lot of experience very quickly.

Pros

The company is privately owned and treats its employees like people, not like employee numbers. (Frankly, I can't even recall what my employee number happens to be.) Roux has a reputation of hiring the best, so expect the work to be both challenging and rewarding. The company does reward hard work with spot and annual bonuses and good salaries. I've worked for good and bad companies -- this is a good one. The firm takes training, utilization, and safety very seriously. In my opinion, it's a very good company for starting a career in environmental services.

Cons

Long days and commuting to and from sites can be tough, especially for those not yet at project manager level. You have to put in your time. Probably no different than at other similar firms.

Pros

Health insurance was good and affordable

Cons

Worked there for 5 years...was unhappy almost every single day but couldn't leave the job due to few personal reasons. The upper management never listened to me, what I had to say, about my requests...my complaints were thrown out the window. They don't care if people leave or stay...I was told by HR right on my face that anyone and everyone is replaceable and comes with an expiration date. I am happy that I left that stinking hole place...I would give it -ve rating if given an option.

Roux Associates Response

As a matter of company practice, all valid complaints are taken very seriously and issues resolved in a most expeditious manner. We are proud of our successful track record of innovation and flexibility with respect to scheduling, remote working arrangements, and healthy living. We are employee-centric and go above and beyond all corporate norms to ensure our workforce is appreciated, valued, and respected. We accept that no company is perfect for all people and separation at times is inevitable. We wish you much success in your new role.
