Rowan-Salisbury School System reviews

Pay is low, morale is low, admin changes constantly, students & parents apathetic, district and LEA eliminated most media positions from schools after making reading literacy a goal which is baffling, other than needing to fund assistant superintendent salaries (there are four of them not counting the superintendent position). Pretty sure most LEAs in NC only have two or three superintendents.

There is a serious lack of direction and focus from leadership. Curriculum is not well-organized or utilized to provide clarity of use for teachers and incremental development for students. The focus of leadership is on showy “innovative” lessons without regard to student achievement. This coupled with extreme cronyism and at times illegal practices(significant number of law suits related to special needs students and employee harassment) make the system one that most top educators cannot tolerate. These factors, among others, contribute to one of the lowest achievement levels on the state.
