Pros

Large dynamic company with a high volume of different calls. Gives you great exposure to all aspects of emergency medicine from technical aspects to dealing with the hospital system. Work with lots of great people with similar career goals.

Cons

Long hours, but that's the reality of this profession at all levels. Working with schedulers is an uphill battle but persistence pays off.

Pros

The staff is friendly here and very easy to get along with. You will never feel out of place or uncomfortable because everyone is respectful and considerate of others. You have many opportunities to advance within the company, there is ALWAYS room to grow. The company is grown fast, as expected, so opportunities will come!

Cons

There are no Cons I have to add.

Pros

Your partners are what make this job even bearable.

Cons

Constant feeling of not appreciated. There is a huge favoritism scale with dispatch and they will give their favorite emts good calls and a lot of breaks. Supervisors are ok, there's a few that are good but then there's a few that really need to work on how they talk to their employees. Equipment is outdated, they do not care about their employees backs as long as they are getting payed.

Royal Ambulance Response

We’re sorry you had a poor experience at Royal and wish you would have told us while you were here so we could work on fixing it together. To address a few of your points: 1. Dispatch gives calls to crews based on location, availability and competency (BLS/CCT). If they gave “good calls” only to EMTs they liked, we could not operate our business efficiently or profitably. Our most successful EMTs are in this to help people. There are no “Bad Calls”, just as their are no “Bad Patients”. 2. Our Supervisors are specifically highlighted in many other Glassdoor reviews for their competence, empathy and helpfulness. Nevertheless, we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement and we appreciate your feedback. 3. “Equipment is Outdated” - Fun Fact: We spend more money per new custom rigs than any other ambulance company in the Bay Area. Sure, we don’t always have brand new gurneys but they are all in working order and safety checked on a regular basis, as is all of our other equipment. 4. “They do not care about their employees backs as long as they are getting payed” - we win “Best Places to Work” awards every year, including Modern Healthcare’s coveted “Best Places to Work” award in 2018 as the only ambulance company ever to win. Again, we’re sorry you had a bad experience and wish you the best of luck in the future.
