I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rutgers. My colleagues were all hard-working and believed in working collaboratively as a team to meet our goals and objectives.

Pros

100+ research labs to choose from 1 hour away from the Jersey shore, the Pennsylvania wilderness, Philadelphia, and New York City New iJOBS career training program

Cons

I had little to no career advice while in the UMDNJ Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Luckily they just received a 5 year BEST grant from the NIH to start the iJOBS program to address this. As with any large university, it is easy to slip between the cracks unnoticed. Self-motivation and building an effective mentor relationship are both vital to not becoming a 7+ year graduate student.
