Pros

100+ research labs to choose from 1 hour away from the Jersey shore, the Pennsylvania wilderness, Philadelphia, and New York City New iJOBS career training program

Cons

I had little to no career advice while in the UMDNJ Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Luckily they just received a 5 year BEST grant from the NIH to start the iJOBS program to address this. As with any large university, it is easy to slip between the cracks unnoticed. Self-motivation and building an effective mentor relationship are both vital to not becoming a 7+ year graduate student.

Pros

It was a good place to work while completing my degree. Pay wasn't great but there were some nice perks.

Cons

Most of the work was outdoors so if the weather conditions were unpleasant the job wasn't very enjoyable.

Pros

Low stress part-time position. Requires some customer service experience and basic Outlook and Excel skills. I could work on homework at times. I was always very informed about what was happening on campus.

Cons

Should be in a positive mood all the time. Have to carry heavy boxes around. Sometimes the tasks that you have to do are busy work or just plain mundane, such as collating printouts, stuffing folders, etc.
