Lots of growth potential for those willing to relocate

It can often feel that the company ownns you. No real work life balance.

Pros

They offer 100% salary positions, which was important to me as it was difficult to find job listings in the market that weren't 100% commission based. Also it is a very good way to get into the trucking/logistics industry if that is your goal.

Cons

If you are a new college graduate, the salary is definitely a step up from probably whatever you made before... however I don't remember any weeks at Ryder that I only worked the 40 hours my salary was based on. That is expected in most jobs, but just something to be aware of. The real CON about the Rental Management Trainee position is the RIDICULOUS corporate policies. They expect that all RMTs say yes to anyone that calls wanting to rent equipment, when in reality there just isn't enough supply to go around. All conference calls seemed to be "good job everybody, you exceeded the revenue forecast by 20%, but why not 50%?!" Big Ryder only seems to have a focus on their profit margins, and they don't seem to care about building a healthy employee culture or morale. One more big thing - when you have your final interview, they will likely show you a graph of all the the different paths you can take after the management trainee program concludes. There is really only one path that they expect you to take, which is a sales position that only one out of every 5-6 RMTs will get into. Once I learned this, I already knew I did not want to pursue sales, and from that day on I knew my days at the company were limited. It seems like a lot of people start and quit within 1-2 years
