Pros

People throughout the organization are great - they have a lot of knowledge and are willing to help others develop. Leaders have provided consistent direction for the last several years. Training opportunities exist for those that show an interest. There are opportunities to advance in the organization.

Cons

There is not always enough time or resources to accomplish everything you want. Company headed in the right direction and finding ways to continuously improve.

Pros

Learned about the metals industry in a short period of time because Ryerson has employees that have been with the company for 10+, 20+, and 30+ years who take pride in passing along their knowledge. There is potential for career growth at Ryerson with 100+ plants across the country. Ryerson Academy is a great way to get into the company for graduating students or people looking for a career change. Fast-paced, puts your focus and skills to the test.

Cons

Communications on strategy and direction as a whole company can be better. I feel that information from the top all the way down to the bottom is delayed, miscommunicated or not communicated at all. Perhaps a company-wide communication letter can be sent to all employees. Fast-paced, can be stressful if you're not used to multi-tasking and staying organized.

Pros

Good opportunities for motivated people. Lots of turnover over the next few years in good positions due to an aging workforce. The company is getting younger and is openly trying to promote youthful candidates.

Cons

Metal industry can be a grind (like O&G). There are cycles that can be tough to work through.
