Pros

- Competitve salary and benefits - Excellent work/life balance - Ryerson Academy training program is intense and enable high performers to be recognized and developed - Opportunity to advance high, especially if relocation is an option - Takes new graduates with minimal experience and develops them into proficient employees

Cons

Must be able to adapt to constant change while maintaining high level of performance. Must be able to withstand negativity and push through those who do not want to change so that the company can reach its full potential in the metals market. Relocation is necessary for quick advancement if that is what you are looking for.

Pros

Pay is slightly above average for the industry. Benefits are still respectable but are steadily eroding. The company is still one of the largest in the industry. Good place to learn the industry. Good co-workers still, but many have moved on,

Cons

Short term bottom line and 'cut to profitability' thinking by executive management. High stress. Extremely unrealistic sales goals with ill thought out means to even attempt to achieve them. How did the 2013 goals work out?. Millions spent on ill thought out, wasteful, and expensive initiatives like a call-center (bad idea that causes confusion for customers and resentment internally) and Ryerson "Academy" (a GOOD idea but terribly implemented by the wrong people and far too costly). Company changes business philosophy every several years which causes confusion for customers.

Pros

Co-workers, if salary, management flexible when needing to take time off.

Cons

Salary, incentives, management, too much stress, way to little appreciation.
