Good product, pretty top heavy with management

Pros

I like our product, and I fell like I could position it against any of our competitors easily. There is a nice amount of time off, and some flexibility to work at home depending on position.

Cons

The company is very different then when I started a few years ago when we were only 1100 employees. I have no idea what to expect with the recent SAP acquisition, but I can't imagine it being good. Ever since we have been growing rapidly... things have gone downhill. There are so many layers of management, it's hard to even make a difference unless you play the game perfectly. Senior titles are given out (in certain roles) without any ryhme or reason. Rewards are given out to people who are successful at putting up numbers... but are notoriously difficult to work with. It's discouraging at end of year when everyone has to bow down to whatever sales wants no matter what.

- Good place to begin your career as a product manager or engineer - Well recognized brand with user base that loves the product - Financial backing from Concur

Cons

- Poor place to develop into mid-level or executive employee due to lack of innovation and mentorship - Engineers and product managers have recognized the lack of innovation, leading to several resignations - Poor product development practices: too many people who want to be product managers rather than focusing on their own responsibilities - Weak mid-level managers: Although they are nice, they do a poor job of being leaders and pushing game-changing initiatives. - Losing advantage to other competitors, who are continually catching up to TripIt

Senior leadership is stable and open. Never a dull moment around here in the data center operations.

Cons

Career path is not well defined in the technical teams, but it is becoming a priority now, so this should improve.
