This is pretty much the same for field service reps with any similar company: although there is flexibility in your work schedule, you should consider that hours are not guaranteed, the pay is pretty low, you are using your own device mostly if not entirely, you are providing internet, and you are using your own vehicle so there is tremendous wear & tear & gas. Bottom line, for low pay, you ultimately are making much less than your hiring wage and no benefits. Companies like these seem to constantly merge with other companies or are completely acquired.

If you needed any type of form filled out or just a general question, it was met with silence, or total dismissal. Your emails and or texts are conveniently never received. It was said by the management that this company is run like labor ready, and if the team doesn’t like the way things are, they can find something else. At the end of the year every year, you miss full weeks around thanksgiving, Christmas, and new years, all while being cut back to only five hours a day. All during the holidays when it is the absolute worst time of year for this to happen. The indeed listings for merchandiser jobs state they pay up to $17 an hour but they start everyone out at $13 anyway. They list the higher wage so that people actually apply. You will be traveling a lot, in your car, and on your dollar. You are paid for travel time (after 30 min and 30 miles). Your mileage reimbursement is .26 per mile. Less than half of the IRS rate. You WILL run your vehicle into the ground for the benefit of the company. The health insurance the company offers is through the ACA marketplace. The company does not contribute.
