Pros

I like working for scan and wjat they stand for in the elderly population Perks: Lunch provided at times Hand made coffee occasionally Massages occasionally Ability to grow in company

Cons

I cant stress enough how under appreciated the member services dept is. And there is always constant "praise" from other depts saying "i could never do what you do!" Its an insult since positions that do 1 task in any other dept gets paid waaay more. -underpaid compared to other Member service positions in other companies. -constantly giving us another hat to wear to make another depts life easier (No increase in pay when that happens) Most recently that is the biggest complaint that is the reason i no longer want to work in MEMBER SERVICES DEPT...... The newer staff they hired in management including supervisors and managers are laughable. They dont know to do a lot of things and complain when they have do something and have to ask reps what to do. Myself included. I have even guided one through a supervisor call and how to resolve it. And a lot of qualified people on dept applied for those positions bit they decided to get incompetent external people. -micromanaging -too focused on meeting service level that it affects customer service quality -Management gossips -favortism moving up in this dept.

Pros

Benefits, casual dress code, free lunches/coffee, bonuses, generous PTO, parking and work/life balance.

Cons

SCAN as a companies a great place to work. Grievance and Appeals Department needs some work. Management expects top quality work with little to no training. Your first week you will sit and read "the chapters" about Medicare. The second week you may or may not sit with another employee and shadow. There are no training classes and you might sit with fairly new employee that is still learning the ropes theirselves. Management is always in meeting and never available for questions or escalated issues, but as soon as you make a mistake you are the one to blame and it is never management's fault. the Director does not speak to her staff. She comes in every morning and goes straight to her office. No communication at all with staff unless it is time to reprimand you for a mistake. A lot of people either left or out on stress leave. The turn over rate is extremely high. They cannot even keep temp employees. A lot of favoritism towards "brown nosers". If you do not speak up management will walk right over you. a lot of changes currently going on within department without proper training. Director threaten to fire or write up employees if mistakes keep happening. Even without the proper training. Morale within the department is very ow. It feels like coordinators vs nurses. coordinators vs management. I does not feel like a team environment at all.

Pros

They seemingly feed you once a week, and all of the free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate you can stomach. I will say the CEO seems to attempt to engage and understand what the front line Phone Representatives face in their day to day job functions. However. They did have a decent training program so Kudos to those whom put together that piece for the company.

Cons

While I believe there are a few genuine "leaders" in the ranks of Manager, Director and Supervisor...there are several that are a poor excuse. Micro Managing, who enjoy humiliating people in front of others with their delivery style, and have hand selected a few minions among the lower ranks whom are down right atrocious excuses for being seemingly groomed into roles within the organization that would be considered in many organizations as a leadership path.
