Pros

What I enjoy most is working with people who care about helping others (in this case, members). Most days are quite busy, but I can always count on my teammates to lend a hand without judgment. The job comes with a steady paycheck, solid health insurance, and a retirement plan.

Cons

Not all interactions with clients are pleasant.

Pros

People are curious, forward-looking, and fun to work with. There’s always someone ready to brainstorm and share insights. Competent leadership. Freedom to push boundaries. Strong emphasis on health and well-being, and that energy translates into the work we do. What’s more, the job is meaningful because you open doors to ideas clients didn’t even know were possible.

Cons

You have to perform if you want a promotion. Leadership notices who’s contributing and who’s not.

Love the vision, clean up the leadership mentality before it's too late

Pros

A company on a mission - and standing by it! Executive leadership is pushing HARD to change the face of healthcare, and with that come challenges - which staff are more than ready to accept. Employees truly love their membership base.

Cons

Directors and medical directors need a hard look by executive leadership. The heart is not in it, and the passion is not getting passed down to front-line teams. Successes, goals, company outcomes, and team focus no longer get communicated to teams. After re-orgs and voluntary resignation, everyone is in survival mode, and no one feels safe going to HR - there have been blatant remarks of retaliation, refusal to hear ongoing process concerns and issues, and massive staff turnover. So many of these leaders are clueless about what their teams actually do. New leadership from external companies is running rogue - what is with all the silos?! There is so much pushback on working together, and a deviation from the "all in" mentality SCAN has upheld for so long. Vital, key players are intentionally left out of meetings, information is not getting relayed to partner teams, and new players are extremely reluctant to work together. I suggest upper leadership and HR review the departments with high turnover and have a very detailed look at leadership - the messages being relayed do NOT align with corporate visions, and staff are fearful to come forward due to political moves by said leaders. PIPs are implemented for staff who dare to question processes and offer suggestions to improve, rather than garnering support to improve efficiencies. Staff who feel threatened by their leadership and fearful of retaliation are NOT submitting surveys!! Too much concern over being pinpointed in their department by their leadership teams. SCAN culture training needs to be passed ASAP to new leadership; there is a massive shift happening with new key players that is diverting entire departments away from member obsession.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. At SCAN, our mission to keep seniors healthy and independent has always been, and remains, at the heart of everything we do. That includes a commitment to creating a strong employee experience where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to contribute because we believe that when our Rebels (employees) thrive, it in turn creates a strong member experience. This same commitment has earned us recognition as a Great Place to Work, a spot on Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare and inclusion on People’s Companies That Care list, among others. With that said, we hear you and encourage all employees to share their feedback, whether through surveys, direct conversations, or other channels. Honest input is not only welcomed, but essential in helping us improve as we continue to grow and evolve as an organization, and no one should feel hesitant to make their voice heard. Please don’t hesitate to share your ideas with a member of the HR team at peoplerelations@scanhealthplan.com at any time.
