Pros

There is the ability to transfer teams ( work with a different department) if it's a better fit for you. The second team I worked with there was everything I needed at the time, and I am still in touch with folks from that team to this day from my then manager to my peers. The first manager was kind enough to let me migrate to a team where I had more to contribute and was a better fit for me.

Cons

The possibility of being in negative situations with certain teams. My advice to you is to keep a level head and see whether the best outcome for all is to try to fix your situation, to migrate to a different team, or to change company...

We're thrilled to hear about your positive experience with our team transfer policy and your lasting connections with colleagues. Your insight into potential challenges with certain teams is valuable, even if it's from your experience years ago. We continuously work to foster a supportive and inclusive environment across all teams, but we recognize there may be occasional challenges. Your advice on assessing situations and considering options aligns with our commitment to empowering employees to make informed decisions about their career paths. Pros

SCS seems to attract great people. Everyone I work with has been intelligent, kind, driven, and genuinely cares about our mission. There are a ton of different programs that you can work in. Many employees have worked their way up to high positions, and those at the director level have been with SCS for 10+ years. My manager is excellent. I have a lot of autonomy and flexibility in my work. We get a small anniversary gift each year, which is a nice gesture. There were a few company-wide salary increases in 2021, but not since then.

Cons

The biggest con is the technology we use. The reality is that I'm at a computer all day every day, managing a lot of data and files. In the 2+ years I've been here, it's been one bandaid solution after another, trying to fix tech issues. I think this is because each program has different needs and this makes it hard to have one system that works for every program. The result is a lot of frustration and inefficiency. The other con is a lack of cohesive company culture. I have rarely interacted with anyout outside of my team in 2+ years. Yes, we occasionally have events (holiday party, employee summit), but I personally would like to see more of this. It would be nice to have regional meetups or even be brought in to the office. Or even if we had more virtual events. I feel like I don't know enough about the other programs at SCS, and it can feel isolating to have so little interaction with others (and I worked remotely long before joining SCS, so this isn't just because we're remote). The annual review process is also not clear. It keeps getting pushed back for months and months. Unclear how salary increases work.

Pros

- The culture requires that everyone work hard, but it's also a casual culture - If you have initiative, are driven, and creative, there's lots of opportunity to apply yourself - Benefits are strong, company offers a lot of perks and flex schedule - Fiscally a very healthy company, well structured and managed - International, diverse array of professionals!

Cons

- being a remote company, it's hard to develop or maintain culture with your colleagues, needs to tackle that issue head on and invest in culture in a big way - the values of SCS are very strong, but culture is a tough thing to do remotely. Company needs to innovate and invest in that regard.
