• •Pay is a few dollars more than other admin Pgh jobs. •Health/dental/vision/life insurance and 401k options. •Sick/Vacation days. •No overtime or weekends. •Entry level job where they'll actually take in recent grads without experience and train them. •It's possible to get a permanent position with their client where the pay is $10k more and the benefits are much better. •Free watered down coffee. •Client site is conveniently located in Downtown Pittsburgh with golden '80s corporate decor and a gigantic food court.
Cons
• •Communication is lacking between the client and SDLC. •Unless you have the tech skills to move to Consultant II level, there really isn't anywhere to go after a year. • Training process is severely lacking. • Their only client is occupied with miserable baby boomers. •Extreme gossip and office politics. •The work is repetitive and tedious, wonderful for dull type A personalities, torturous for outgoing type B. •Lack of meaningful stimulation in a cubicle farm. •You're often sitting around staring at depressing gray cubicle walls, waiting on pending work items. •Big Brother environment. •SDLC wants you to promote their company by brown-nosing in your free time. •You aren't paid for attending mandatory company meetings, you must use your own break time—your payment is in pizza. •You start relating to Milton from 'Office Space'. •Since you sit in a chair for eight hours a day weight gain and lack of energy ensues. • As an employee, you're easily discarded. If you don't quickly live up to the high expectations of the client, you'll be replaced immediately with a fresh-faced recent grad.
