Pros

- Although a very, very large company, Schlumberger does many things better than others. - They pay well, are on the leading edge of technology in most areas and have a better vision than most of the industries in which they operate. - Corporate culture with respect to following the law in all areas is very strong. - One of the last typically to begin letting employees go during industry downturns. - Due to its size, many opportunities to move around and expand your experience base.

Cons

- You will certainly feel like you are just a number, which is rather inevitable in a company this size. - Recently seem to rely far too much on contracting employees and "diversity". Many hard working employees let go simply for the sake of this. - HR not nearly as responsive as in previous years. Far too much control over individual departments, hiring, etc.

Pros

-Great training -Some very smart people, very hard working -People willing to teach other

Cons

-Gossiping, and lots of it. Someone doesn't like you? Well, he will then spend the next 3 years spreading lies and rumours about you to make you look bad. -HR manager's can be dishonest. Specifically, one provided me with a fraudulent warning letter because of a feminist agenda she had and believed me to be both a racist and a misogynist. This type of manager brings the company down many years. Lies, unfortunately even after recognized by other managers, are not stopped - mainly due to this manager and the like promoting it to legal team who does not make changes following a decision that has been made.
