Pros

I like the flexibility that my manager provides for good work-life balance. I am a mom of 2 and the flexibility to work from home when need be makes me save my PTO for the times when I really need it.

Cons

The con of working at SRF is the lack of clarity on 'timeline and skill-to-be-acquired' for promotion.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Balancing the needs of your professional and personal life is important – we understand this flexibility is key for many of our employees. In addition, we strive to provide career development opportunities through our mentorship and tuition reimbursement programs as well as internal classes and Toastmasters group. Many of our principals and senior associates started their careers at SRF and have grown to be leaders within the company. We also cover the cost of professional membership(s) and license/certification costs for employees. However, these growth opportunities aren’t effective without clear communication on how to continue your professional development. We encourage you to talk to your supervisor (and mentor) to get a clear understanding of how you can grow at SRF and set tangible goals for advancement. Annual reviews are right around the corner, and this should be part of your discussion. Dave Montebello

Pros

SRF has a good company culture, with friendly and energized employees who do great work. My favorite benefits are a "dress for your day" dress code, good work/life balance (you set your own 8 hour schedule), and respectful, friendly, and approachable coworkers. The people at SRF are great, and if you have a new idea or spot an opportunity, you will be supported in that. The company also has great benefits as far as healthcare and retirement are concerned.

Cons

Vacation time is limited (10 days per year when you first start), and you can only use what you've accrued. There is a policy for new employees that you cannot use sick time until you have worked for 3 months, and no vacation time for 6 months. While this wasn't as bad as it sounded, I think the policy is outdated and unnecessary.

It’s great to see you are enjoying so many elements of the culture at SRF. Ensuring people feel they have a voice at our company is critical to our success, so I’m happy to learn you feel supported in sharing your ideas. Work / life balance is also priority for us, and we will continue to focus on ways to maintain that balance for our employees. We have recently revised our time-off policy to eliminate waiting periods for sick and vacation time, and we will continue to offer schedule flexibility and the ability to convert unused sick time to additional vacation days. Finally, I invite you to keep an eye out for further internal communication regarding fostering a culture of health. I appreciate you taking the time to share your positive and constructive feedback. Pros

co-workers were pleasant, competent, and work hard. the work is interesting, diverse, and challenging. company projects improve every day life in the region.

Cons

company pays lip service to teamwork, training, and technology, but does not support the efforts in reality. pay is lower than industry standard. work-load makes work-life balance difficult.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are passionate about helping improve the quality of communities and transportation systems, and I’m glad you enjoyed our projects and co-workers during your time with SRF. While we have many project deadlines that need to be met, we do our best to balance work time through flexible schedules and workload sharing among groups. Sometimes though, the nature of our business requires extra work hours. SRF recognizes extra hours by offering additional compensation to all employees, salaried or hourly. We also evaluate current salary market conditions on a yearly basis and take that data into account with the salaries we offer. Training and technology are critical for the success and growth of our employees and company. As such, we have invested in new CADD/visualization, project management, and communication tools and will continue to do so. We offer a large variety of in-house training sessions throughout the year, many of which are geared to apply towards maintaining required certifications and registrations. I invite you to reach out to me to share your experience. Dave Montebello
