Pros

Over my 10 years I have seen the company show that they are focused on being progressive and establishing the company as a leader in the IT Healthcare industry. At the same time they have worked to make the company an employee friendly (Family) place to work. They try to promote from within, be fair in raises they give, but, you do have to earn your raise. They are improving their performance management process so employees know how they are performing and what to expect come raise time. The team environment of accomplishing projects that gets everyone involved helps develop all employees. There are many activities to show appreciation to the employees - the tuition reimbursement program is fantastic, support of recreational teams, lunches, spontaneous days of giving away ice cream, sno cones, and other treats, providing educational presentations on personal matters that can benefit employees on and off the clock (budgeting, credit issues, mortgages, student loans, etc.). Providing personal one on one counselling sessions through the 401(k) Plan.

Cons

All companies have their issues. However, it would be good if all areas were treated equally. It is evident that certain departments receive special treatment. This only frustrates the areas that are neglected or not given as much reward as other areas.

Pros

I have been with the company now for 27 years. Great Benefits, salary is good and right within the range of my job description.

Cons

The only thing i can think of right now would be that within my position I don't have the opportunity to work flexible hours.

Pros

As a member of the SSI family for more than a decade, I have seen the company grow from a small billing software company into a full service revenue cycle vendor with a strong industry presence and a bright future. I love that as it has grown, the company continues to have a family feel, from its bowling league and running teams to the regular appreciation events that are held to recognize accomplishments and celebrate success. Even though the changes have been fast and furious, it is great to see the projects that are modernizing how we do business. The new technology, the agile development processes, and the steady improvements made to infrastructure and software give employees a great opportunity to improve their job skills and advance. There has been a recent shift to more flexible work hours and work from home capabilities for those positions that are not bound by coverage concerns, allowing for a better overall work experience. When it comes to advancement, it is also impressive to see how dedicated SSI is to rewarding hard work and innovation by promoting from within. It is rare to find a company with such long tenured employees, and there are departments where the person with 4 years experience is the "new" person on the team. Continual improvement in the face of challenges, a long history in the industry, and opportunities to work with people who will be here not just this year but for years to come make SSI a great, and fairly unique, place to work.

Cons

While SSI is a great place to work, it has its issues as all companies do. One area is the recent rate of change, which has been daunting. Change is good, and the future being targeted will strengthen the company and safeguard our futures, but the frequent changes in leadership and the accompanying changes in direction have led to some lost project cycles and wasted effort. That hurts morale and impacts the success of future projects. The corporate headquarters is in need of renovation, and though work has been done and is in process for sections of the building, there are still portions that need cosmetic upkeep. Salary is consistent with the ranges for comparable local opportunities, but could be a con if compared to hotter job market areas.
