Company continuing to go down hill fast

Pros

SSI offers fair pay and benefits as they always have.

Cons

Since the change in C level management we have lost costumers and employees. SSI has had at least 100 lay offs in the last 18 months but most employees are leaving on their own now. The CTO is hiring mostly his colleges from previous companies he has worked for. The entire sales department has been replaced just for one example. If you're not in the "click" then you do not have a chance so unless you are related somehow to a C-level person, I would steer clear of employment here.

Pros

YOU GET A PAYCHECK SUCH AS IT IS

Cons

we are top heavy with titles and salaries. therefore the actual workers micromanaged, under paid expected to take on the work of employees who have been laid off. All the new CFO cares about is reports.... He has no clue how the company works. He has beefed up his dept and let others go 'the new philosophy is longtime employees are STALE. We have a good ole boys club at the top and they have each others back. They hire buddies, commit indescretions and constantly scrutinize for no reason. IF YOU ARE A BARBIE LOOK ALIKE YOU WILL HAVE IT MADE. ALSO IF YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS TO THE OWNERS AS SOME OF OUR EXCECS DO. They don't have to produce just be there. Not the co it used to be. if you dare to question your days are numbered and they have gotten rid of a lot of quality people. HR is a joke, they are back stabbing opportunists. Mr lyons has no real power---- just a joke. Little man runs the show and he doesn't have a clue. Neither do the rest of the good ole boys. If jobs were easy to find, in this area you would loose a lot of the quality workers you have. There is low moralle and negativity even if mgmt disagree.

Pros

Good co-workers, good pay. With all the recent layoffs, getting good equipment is usually not a problem, either. Several old-timers have been leaving in a "brain drain," so good opportunities exist for new hires. SSI has a lot of recurring revenue which will keep it afloat quite a while longer.

Cons

Very political: who you are and whom you're friends with matters a lot. Management is very top-down; unless you are a manager, don't expect your ideas to be considered. Agile development methodology is agile in name only. CTO is a micromanager who emphasizes process, documentation, and contracts — in direct opposition to the Agile Manifesto. Recent (and constant) layoffs have taken their toll on morale. I think most people who are remaining are at least engaged in a passive job search. (The good pay, however, allows us to be picky, so that's a pro.)
