Pros

Not having to run a business myself. They pay well.

Cons

Physicians don't get a say in important decisions that affect practice, equipment purchased, hiring staff. I guess some physicians do, but I sure don't get listened to, and I do speak up. SSM is cheap about otherwise lower paid staff which really stretches that staff. Or we don't have the support we need for the "extended hours" we are asked to have. Physicians could do more if the office was better staffed. I also get the feeling that I am completely disposable: that even though my patients and staff would miss me, administration couldn't care less if I left. I feel like a RVU-generator. In addition, I have been disappointed in lack of faithfulness to mission. They call themselves Catholic, but a lot of things go on that are not in line with Catholic teaching.

Pros

Fast paced, fun, dynamic learning environment. Lots to do and learn. You are able to make a difference in the lives of patients in whatever role you have. Feels worthwhile and important. Great pay for entry level job and good skill building that is transferable to other companies (epic).

Cons

Our concerns about coworkers and supervisors go ignored by management and corporate. We used to be able to do a monthly satisfaction survey that management begged us to do, however, we never recieved any feedback and eventually they removed the portion of the survey where you could write in your answer. Management is the reason for high turnover. We are always short staffed because management is always forcing someone out. Benefits are TERRIBLE for a hospital system. You would really be surprised. If you live in Illinois you will have to come to St Louis for services.
