Thank you for your review! We are pleased that you were satisfied with your pay rate and the benefits that are offered to our employees. We provide a competitive & comprehensive benefit package which includes a generous amount of PTO, Paid Holidays, medical and dental insurance, Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account, a generous matching contribution in our 401(k) program and additional supplemental insurances. As you mention, there are endless opportunities for career advancement within Nystrom and we absolutely enjoy giving our employees the opportunities to do that and enrich their career goals. We also take much pride in the community involvement events we are part of and it’s a great opportunity for coworkers to get to know each other better while also helping out others in need within our communities we serve. Thank you for your positive feedback. We are always open to feedback and our goal is to consistently make improvements where improvements are needed. We will take your advice to heart and be more conscious on how best to implement changes to make any changes as easy as possible on any staff that are affected. Thank you-

Reactive Company with Unhealthy Management Mentality

Pros

The company is rapidly expanding which allows for quick growth upward from entry level positions. A strong balance of gender equality in management experience, but no other diversity.

Cons

The company only cares about employees that make them the most money (med providers, outpatient therapists, etc.) The community based program gets little to no support from upper management and are over worked. The same pro is also a con. The rapid growth and internal promotions are due to high turn over rates and doesn't mean that the best candidates are always the ones promoted and there is no quality in management training. The growth upwards will get you one quick raise, but after that there is little to no movement or opportunity for growth or development. There is not vertical or even equivalent lateral movement available in the company. Supervisors are unsupportive and don't handle honest feedback well. If you aren't one of the company favorites, you better keep your head down and not say anything. If you have concerns you are supposed to bring them to your immediate supervisor, but she will then bring them to her supervisor and you will be punished for being a negative employee when all you are trying to do is improve the company work environment and mentality. Supervisor was never supportive and quick to throw me under the bus, especially when other departments are involved and you are only doing what your supervisor asks you to do. She has a way with apology emails that she says she's taking the blame but it still hangs you out there that it's your fault. My entire department was demoted before the start of the year and we went from being administrative staff to basically support staff. There is no respect. My supervisor was never on time. The last 2 months of my employment, she rescheduled every meeting we had planned either 15 minutes before it was supposed to start or an hour after. Reinforcing that you don't actually matter to the company and that your work is insignificant if you're not a med provider. These meetings include annual reviews which are scheduled a year in advance but are pushed off for weeks to avoid giving raises. The review process is unfair and you will be blindsided all at once with your deficiencies rather than correcting it and working with you when they are noticed. Supervisor tells you that she doesn't tolerate negative work environments, so instead of team building and trying to create positive environments, encourages you to fake it and bottle it up, which is incredibly unhealthy and infuriating especially in a mental health clinic. The unreported HIPAA violations are atrocious and talked about so casually. There is an entire printer full of health information that is unlocked and easily accessible by anyone that just enters the building. Continuing off of the HIPAA violations, the gossip policy is a joke. It only applies to support staff, but if supervisors are talking about how some patients are difficult when it doesn't actually involve their workflow, it goes unpunished, event when questioned if what is being discussed is appropriate. A coworker questioned gossip once, and was told that it doesn't matter if the supervisor is the one that is also joking about the patient. HR is extremely unapproachable. They never respond to emails in a timely manner. They want honest feedback, but will forward it without your knowledge or permission and they don't do anything with it but punish you for being negative.

Thank you for your review and allowing us to respond to your review, despite many untrue claims that you allege. As you mention, there are many opportunities for job growth, enrichment, development and advancement at Nystrom. Many of our employees have been promoted from their original roles into other roles within the organization. It sounds as if you were even promoted from a Community Based Mental Health Practitioner role, onto our Quality Assurance Team, based on what you’ve written in this review. Nystrom does not favor any class of employee over the others. Our philosophy is we are ONE team and each of our roles (whether that be a clinical role or a non-clinical/support role) is critical in the process of providing the best treatment possible to our patients. Our clinical staff need our support staff, and vice versa. We work as ONE team and no specific groups of employees are favored or valued over others. You also mentioned that you were working in the Quality Assurance Department and that “my entire department was demoted before the start of the year and we went from being administrative staff to basically support staff. There is no respect.” That is completely inaccurate. Nystrom made no changes to your job other than the fact that you were going to be paid hourly (with eligibility for overtime) instead of salary (due to new legal requirements that were out of Nystrom’s control). Your rate of pay remain unchanged and you were then required to work less hours each week with the same amount of pay. Most, if not all, of your cohorts in this same position were happy about this (who could complain about working less hours each week, earning at least the same amount of pay (maybe more with overtime) and have no changes to your job duties)? It sounds like you were formally met with for disciplinary action, which is why you seem to have an axe to grind on your Glassdoor review. You mention that your supervisor was unsupportive and “threw you under the bus” and you were “being punished for being a negative employee” and that “the gossip policy is a joke.” For the readers of this review, Nystrom has good reason to believe who wrote this review and the person who wrote this Glassdoor review was consistently negative, brought in non-work related issues into the workplace, and drug everyone else around her down (other coworkers complained about her as she was impacting their morale at work due to her negativity). This is why she was met with on several occasions about her attitude and without any change and her disregard for others around her, was met with on a formal level to address her behaviors. We have reason to believe she has written this review after she resigned employment with us because she’s angry about our attempts to work with her on improvement and her unwillingness to be a team player with a positive attitude at work. Additionally, Nystrom is HIPAA compliant and takes compliance very seriously. All patient data is safeguarded per legal requirements and the assertion that this Glassdoor reviewer alleges in the review is untrue. We encourage any employee to contact Human Resources at 651-379-1774 if they have any concerns for prompt and immediate resolution. Thank you.

Love my job

Pros

Wonderful coworkers - very team oriented. Phenomenal office managers. Upper management, HR and the providers have been helpful and kind. Getting to interact with patients who are struggling in life and having the opportunity to brighten their day is incredibly rewarding. There is enough work to keep you busy but there are down times which I think is nice. Lots of opportunities to learn. The pay is reasonable for the positions and the amount of work they entail. I think this is a place where you get what you put in. Lots of internal promoting and ability to move up. If you work hard and you're a positive person you'll find that people want to be just as helpful and positive to you. I enjoy going to work every day.

Cons

None really, I really like this company and the working environment.

Thank you for your positive review. We are thrilled to head that you “love your job” as a Support Staff at our New Brighton office. It’s great to hear that you feel Nystrom is very “team oriented.” We certainly strive to be and that is the culture of our company. We are pleased to hear that you feel your support by your Office Manager is “phenomenal” and that you have been treated in a kind and professional manner by all other staff including upper management, HR and the providers. As you stated, our goal is to provide as much opportunity for all of our staff to continue to learn. As you stated, you have probably seen and heard that many of your colleagues have been promoted to other roles within the organization. Our goal is to promote from within and work as a team to help our staff enrich their careers and gain more experience and job knowledge. We are so pleased to hear that you love coming to work each day and enjoy the environment and the culture. If you ever have any further suggestions or feedback, feel free to contact Human Resources or any member of management. Thanks.
