Pros

Flexible schedule, wonderful people that you work with in all departments, supportive management that cares about you and your well being, good pay with opportunities to increase income and very rewarding work. After working here for 5 years I still look forward to going to work and I've made some really good friends.

Cons

Full time is considered 45 hours a week. But that's not uncommon with other companies. It can get tiring though.

Hi, Thank you for your review about the Community Based supervisor position and your employment with Nystrom over the past 5+ years. We are very pleased to hear that management is supportive to you and your family's needs. We also appreciate you indicating that you feel as if we offer good pay and benefits and offer incentives to earn additional income as well as increase the work opportunities available to you to enrich your career. Thanks for your review.

Pros

Flexible hours, variety of clients with severe mental illnesses- great experience, autonomy, Experience in writing treatment plans, progress notes, and assessments, no need to find your own referrals- there are plenty

Cons

It is very difficult to get enough hours to make the quota (50 billable every 2 weeks minimum)- you also must meet this amount to be reimbursed for mileage (only 30 cents per mile); 70 hour quota in order to be eligible for health insurance or PTO. Too much driving to make hours! I was driving way more hours than face time with clients in order to make my hours... which in my opinion, is unethical (the DHS funding is supposed to be to help the mentally ill, not to have practitioners drive around all day). The netbooks are outdated and are required to be used in session with clients, usually with a poor signal. All paperwork (Treatment Plans, Functional Assessments, Progress Notes) are required to be written concurrently IN session with clients. This is not conducive to building rapport or using active listening with clients, and is VERY stressful for the practitioner!!! Too many computer program changes... they are constant, and training is poor. There is no paid time for meetings, supervision times, driving to these meetings, scheduling clients, or any paperwork done outside of session. Therefore, many hours per week are put in for no pay. Supervision was poor and of little support. There is no team building time, and you are pretty much on your own.

Pros

Flexible hours, rewarding work with clients, get to know a lot of community resources.

Cons

Compensation sucks after they take out the taxes. Lots of driving without reimbursement, unless you bill over 70 hours (which is nearly impossible and if you want to overwork yourself). Another thing if you don't make enough hours? No PTO. Patients will cancel on you. There can be days when you wait all day for patients and they leave you stranded in a part of town that you didn't sign up for because they chose to cancel last minute.

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. As a former employee your feedback is really important to us. We are committed to making Nystrom a great place to work. We do not control how much taxes are withheld from an employee’s paycheck. We also are unable to control when patients cancel their appointments but do strive to enable and train our staff on how to help reduce the amount of patient cancellations whenever possible. In order for our ARMHS and CTSS Mental Health Practitioners to obtain mileage benefits, we require that they have 25 hours per week, or 50 hours per pay period. PTO is accrued when a Mental Health Practitioner works 35 hours per week (70 hours total per pay period) in ARMHS and 68 hours per pay period (every two weeks) in CTSS. All of the required meetings are compensated via the salary that this position as a Mental Health Practitioner entails. Generally, ARMHS Mental Health Practitioners have 5 hours of meetings per month and CTSS Mental Health Practitioners have 8 hours of meetings each month. These meeting times and requirements are required by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. We will use your feedback to evaluate our compensation and benefits package in the future to remain competitive within the mental health industry. Again, thank you for your feedback.
