Pros

The benefits at Salesforce are amazing.

Cons

Unless you work for some other departments, the customer support group is the worst. All the requirements on the job description are useless. A college graduate and someone with call center experience do the same exact job. It's basically a call center job with management more interested in having received as many calls without the customer waiting rather than assisting them on their first call. Resolving customers' issues that were already been worked on by other engineers is not supported. I was getting a response like "Why do you want to resolve this issue and have the other group take credit?" Unless this mentality changes, Salesforce other than benefits it is not a good place to work.

Pros

There are remnants of good culture still hidden in Salesforce. A decade ago, you could go to any Engineering Cloud, work for nearly any manager, and it would be a solid growth experience. If you hunt, you can still find pockets where this is true. Acquisitions are often the best places to be.

Cons

Many years ago, the company hired a little dictator from SAP to lead Engineering and over time he's created a culture of fear. Managers need to fall in line and drive their teams to produce without any dissent. Engineers don't work well in this kind of cut-throat political culture. Salesforce's Disney characters sing about their diversity and opportunity, but it's a lie -- there is no real diversity there, and if you're not lucky enough to be on the right team, you're likely better off at another company.
