Pros

Continued development and training opportunities. Getting to know regular customers. Staff Discount: 20% off of trade price. Good staff morale.

Cons

Customers will ask about many different issues regarding hair, skin&beauty, you are expected to have a good knowledge of every product in store so that you can best advise them. This can be overwhelming at first as there is a lot to learn about the products, hair dyes and beauty products.

Great Managment Incentives

Pros

As a store manager if your store exceeded all your quotas you could get a lot of incentives and an all inclusive yearly trip for two ( Dominican, Caribbean etc). Can be a very fun environment. Great support from other store managers.

Cons

When having issues with staff members they did not give store managers authority to reprimand properly. I had one staff member that had multiple complaints from customers and co workers. She would bully younger staff members to the point of leaving the store crying when I was not there. They would not allow me to actually write her up officially. She would deny every allegation. Customers would actually call the Head office to complain about how rude she was to them and even then I was not allowed to write her up. I was told I could talk to her about the situation and write it down but I would have to keep it at home and it would not be sent to Head Office.

Pros

I love working here! The girls I work with are awesome, the products are great and the customers are nice for the most part! The hours aren't too bad too

Cons

Upper management is disorganized and because we haven't had a president or a Regional Director in months, the District Managers have too much on their plate to be available for questions or help. The company is too cheap. The pay is too low and the incentives don't make up for it if you're a Manager. I get paid salary for 40 hours but I usually work 50+ hours per week. The full time employees are also underpaid for the amount of work they do, and there is not a huge difference in wage between managers and associates. There is not enough staff for the volume of customers that come in, taking time off or being sick is hard to do because of the lack of payroll. The technology is too old and needs to be upgraded. Taking time off is a hassle and it's even harder as A Manager, I have been full time for 2.5 years but I've only been able to use 1 week of vacation due to constantly being short staffed and having many black out periods. You also can't take off a weekend as a holiday, and if you do you have to make it up by working one of the weekends you are scheduled off. It's too hard to get rid of bad employees, we don't have a 3 month probationary period and sometimes it can be hard to write people up.
