Truly Miserable Place

Pros

Co-workers are supportive and do their best to keep each other sane. Staff meals are provided from time to time.

Cons

Owners are highly dysfunctional, inconsistent, and nepotistic. Gaslighting is the primary "management strategy." Professionals come in -- new hires are generally treated well, partly as a means of intimidating existing staff -- and then they're gradually stripped of autonomy. Growth is almost non-existent. CEO enjoys ambushing staff with unplanned meetings, sometimes not even to discuss actual work but to impose his alt-right political views. He also enjoys openly insulting staff to each other and musing about who should be fired next, which naturally creates a culture of fear and insecurity. Business-oriented directives often shift on a dime from week to week, or even day to day. Leadership's motivations are often totally paranoid. Oh, and the benefits are dismal.

Pros

Most of colleagues were a pleasure to work with, so they hire great people - before they drain every employee for what they're worth. Oh yeah, and free expired coffee that can't be sold.

Cons

Upper management is extremely unprofessional in and out of meetings, using the "R" word casually and calling employees stupid and useless - would've reported to HR but HR is also biased and unprofessional. Would consistently talk politics and push personal political views in meetings. Fires people for speaking up, having differing opinions or for small mistakes. Forgets decisions given to employees to carry out, resulting in verbal abuse and shame for "making" the decision. Majority of employees deserve better treatment and compensation but keep quiet in fear of job termination.

Meh

Pros

Great co-workers everybody gets along pretty well. Free catered lunch once a month, usually pizza or subs, nothing fancy. Earbuds/headphones OK while working.

Cons

Family business. Senior management could care less about employees. Lower management and supervisors are powerless. Extremely high turnover rate. Corporate HQ is spectacular, warehouse and repair shop are dismal. "Annual" reviews take 15-18 months. No overtime.
