Pros

Great benefits. Decent pay. Good people.

Cons

Horrible hours. Schedules not always given 3 weeks out. No work life balance at all. Your success relies on who favors you. Negative work environment, never good enough.

A great place for a part time worker going to college, not a career choice.

Pros

The store closes at 830pm so I didn't have to be there past 930pm. It was nice to get out earlier than an employee at a fast food restaurant. Often the shifts are 4 or 8 hours long. The pay starts at $8.00 an hour for a person without experience in Michigan. Good place if you are going to college. My managers always let me work around my schedule. Paid holidays after 90 days. I received a lot of positive reinforcement from my managers which helped me learn how to be an effective worker in retail. I had respect for my managers and I truly believed they wanted me to succeed. Good diversity, lots of chances to change positions in the store, but leadership positions are harder to come by. Theres a pay raise each year which is beneficial. Membership is paid for, lots of chances to get a look at the clearance items. (versus a customer that may shop there once a week). Benefits are okay, but are much better once you are a full time employee (I experienced full and part time status)

Cons

It was difficult to let my voice be heard to upper management. Communication. For example, I have told my team leader about a problem and he was unsure of how to fix it. So he tells me he will talk to management and get back with me. A week later, I never hear anything. In addition, I go directly to management to ask about it and they tell me its the first they heard of the problem. This has happened with more than one manager, team leader or co-worker. As a part timer, it can be hard to make a living and get more than 30 hours. There were times in January, I got 15 hours a week several years in a row.
