Pros

I am working at Sam's while going to college. It is nice because the hours they need to schedule the most are in evenings when I am done with class. The pay is OK, although I know I get paid less than almost every other employee. The only way I would want to make a career out of Sam's club would be if I cannot find a job out of college, otherwise I would really prefer not work at Sam's.

Cons

I am frustrated because I feel that I am not cutting corners on things like other employees do but they get more respect even though they may not be very professional about their job at all. There are discrepancies between managers and their expectations which makes things very confusing.

Pros

Most workers are friendly and helpful. Pays more than typical retail job. If you work for the company the opportunity for new career advancement is pretty high.

Cons

Communication between workers and management. Spend alot of time trying to cover others work, but the organization of tasks and responsibilities can be poor. Schedule will change often, and taking off days can be a problem.

Pros

Feels like a family, good benefits. Sam's Club values your family life in relation to your work life, which is great. I have a great group of associates who I work with, and I appreciate the relationships that exist.

Cons

However, promotions aren't necessarily given out fairly. You work 45-50 hours minimum per week. Limited positions within the field to move up, and a lot of competitiion amongst other assistant managers.
