Pros

Samaritan's Purse is very generous to their field staff in terms of compensation, and are working in some of the most difficult places, thus truly living out their mission and vision statements.

Cons

Unlike many other christian non government organizations, Samaritan's Purse does not have a furlow program for their long term staff--meaning that you need to resign your position to catch your breath rather than just taking a break.

Pros

Overall purpose and mission of company is great since it fulfills the Great Commission to go and tell the world of God's GREAT love - and helping others in less fortunate or desperate circumstances

Cons

Takes a toll on your personal life because you are always responding and working in the saddest, most devestating situations and staff expend themselves far beyond the call of duty to make things happen. Expectations are placed on staff to volunteer for various events and functions. Management unfortunately demonstrates favouritism and scrutinizes staff on unrealistic criteria for advancement

Pros

Leadership is passionate about sharing the gospel and emphasizing that this is the real reason the development projects exist - to get your foot in the door to share the Gospel with beneficiaries.

Cons

Health insurance for ex-pats in field is very cheap but has a high deductible ($1,000) and seems to only cover about 50% of medical expenses.
