Pros

Enjoyed offering aid and comfort around the world

Cons

Very disorganized operation. The home office in Boone seemed to cause a lot of chaos when they would get involved in certain things. The HR department is a mess with too many young interns/new people making decisions.

Pros

- Amazing mission to be part of. Everyone is contributing in some way to providing immediate help and relief to hurting people around the world. The work being done is very rewarding. - New hires are given a good introduction to all aspects of what Samaritan's Purse does, and how your role and department fits into that bigger puzzle of being the hands and feet of Jesus. - Really enjoyed working with the people here. Just about everyone is fantastic. - Morning devotions were a great way to start the day, ensuring our minds were focused on Christ before we dove into that day's work. - Prayer is encouraged, either individually or in a more team setting. - Healthcare provided on site which was really surprising and appreciated. - Cafeteria food was surprisingly really great and a good price. - Boone is a beautiful location. The mountain summers were pleasant and the fall was gorgeous. If you like small town living, Boone and the surrounding area is a nice place to live. I grew up in the city but learned to appreciate small town living.

Cons

- Inconsistent resistance to working remotely, which I didn't understand, especially in an age of COVID quarantines and such. -Not a lot of ability to promote up. Career planning felt like mostly waiting for someone above you to leave, which could take years if they're well established. Or months if they decide to leave since turnover seemed kind of high. - Location leaves something to be desired. Boone is a beautiful mountain town but the real estate is ridiculously expensive. You'll end up paying a lot to live close by or end up commuting 30-40 min. to pay a more reasonable rent/mortgage. - If you're more of a city person, there's not a lot going on in Boone. The next "big" town is Hickory which is about an hour away and has some decent amenities. Charlotte is 2 hours away which is where the closest international airport is. - Samaritan's Purse is one of the main employers in town so you'll frequently run into coworkers at church, coffee shops, etc. Could be bad or good, depending on your preference. - Seems like the kind of place that is best for fresh college grads, single adults, and those who've already had a full career. Not the best for families with young kids where one parent is working. - For such a large organization, it felt like it was still run with the mentality of a family owned business. That's fine in some respects, as you do feel close knit but I don't think it's the right management style for an organization this large.

Pros

Mission of the organization is a joy to be a part of. Being a part of such a BIG reach is humbling. The people / volunteers are high level and incredibly generous, people of of integrity.

Cons

Some of the leaders are narcissistic. the Leadership does not trust the field offices even though the field is taught to train and trust their volunteer leaders. Very little opportunity to move up
