Pros

At Sammons, the work environment is unlike any I’ve experienced. Because the company is employee‑owned through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), everyone has a stake in the company’s results. Our culture is intentional: we value openness and respect, hold one another accountable, and stay connected across locations and departments. While no organization is perfect, we hire carefully with the aim of building long‑term careers. As the company grows, employee‑owners share in its success—and should continue to do so as long as we keep our culture front and center.

Cons

As the company grows, it can become easy to view people as numbers rather than individuals, which runs counter to our culture. External hires may bring industry habits that don’t align with our values, and they may need time to acclimate to our original intent.

Pros

ESOP - although it's considered "free money" after a 3 year period- expect to make little money and be worked to the ground. Look for a job that'll pay you what you deserve. Your ESOP won't hit a considerable amount until you've put in at least a 10 year tenure. If you can last that long.

Cons

Working at Sammons Financial has been one of the most disappointing job experiences I’ve ever had. Employees are consistently undervalued, overworked, and underpaid. Management operates with no real regulations or consistency—it’s entirely dependent on how they’re “feeling” that week. The hot-and-cold mentality is exhausting and creates a very unstable and draining environment. HR is not there to support employees in any meaningful way. Their only real function seems to be hiring and firing; if you bring forward a concern or need assistance, don’t expect any help. The workplace culture is toxic, with bullying and constant setups for failure no matter how hard you work. It’s a hostile environment that wears people down quickly. To make matters worse, the attendance policy was recently changed in a way that is especially punishing for families with young children. Employees now lose points for being sick, which shows how little the company values health, family, or work-life balance. Overall, Sammons Financial is not a supportive or fair place to work. The lack of accountability, poor leadership, and disregard for employees makes this a company I would not recommend to anyone.
