Pros

I have been in IT for 15+ years now and the last 5 of which with SanMar. Last year I almost gave up and left. But then, we hired a new CIO for IT and changes started to take place. We now have focus on service, we are making critical investments in technology we haven't done before and we are working better as one team. There have been many new roles and opportunities in the last 6 months. You can feel and sense the excitement and it is fun again to wake up in the morning and go to work!

Cons

Some employees who don't like the changes use every opportunity to go to the owner and complain. This approach doesn't promote trust.

Pros

The IT department is going through much needed transformation. Since the new CIO started six months ago, we now have a vision and direction which we've never had before. There is a renewed sense of focus, people are more energized. There have been number of employees joining IT from other parts of the company because of the changes and excitement in IT. We are getting more things done and the rest of the company sees it.

Cons

There should be more focus on individual performance and rewards based on individual contribution.
