It went from good to terrible

Work/life balance is overall good. PTO is quite generous for new employees. IT department is excellent.

Cons

Employees in the CSO organization are not treated equally at different sites. Because of their relationships with company’s CSO, people based in Ohio with very little drug discovery experience were rapidly promoted to senior leadership roles to manage scientists in Massachusetts. One particular troubling example— someone with only high school education and no prior R&D experience was promoted to executive director to oversee clinical sample testing in the clinical lab in Andover. When people voiced their concerns, they were retaliated with their positions been eliminated. The working environment is extremely toxic, and it’s almost comical to see R&D being run by such a group of amateurs who think they know everything. So many people left since Ohio gene therapy took over in March, and nothing has changed.

People, science and benefits are great!

Cons

Continue to promote poor talent, do not care about retaining talent, c-suite makes all the decisions, boys club and they do not listen. People are leaving every week which is sad to see and the company doesn't care. HR does exit interviews and when you raise concerns they act like its a surprise and the c suite doesn't want to hear the issues which means their caring for people is a lie.

The CEO and CMO are dedicated to developing transformative therapies for Duchene's patients. If you can report directly to them, go for it.

Cons

There is one Head of Department that is by the far the worst manager I've observed in my career. Working for him or with him is a recipe for disaster. If you are interviewing here and you interview with a Head of Dept whose responses seem a bit off, in content and/or tone, it's probably him. If the role you're going for involves working with him in any way, it's best to run the other way.
