Pros

discounts and first dibs on cool stuff

Cons

the managers are downright cruel. felt like working at a sweatshop. employees call it "Slavers". forced overtime. they will refuse to give you days off, even for legitimate reasons, e.g. family events.

Pros

-You can feel good about helping a non-profit agency -You get a seriously great discount on items in the store

Cons

-Very low pay -Due to the nature of the store, there are a lot of attempts by customers to switch price tags and steal things -Unfortunately, a lot of the other regular employees are resentful of anyone who works there that is going to school, since they feel that means you are stuck-up and think you're better than them. In the two years I worked as a cashier, despite the high turnover in the Production department, there was always an undertone of hostility towards me for being middle-class and getting educated.
