Pros

Hmmm....if I was there long enough, I could tell you. But as soon as I was hired, I was laid off. But I will say that for the short time that I was their, I learned a new skill that is helping me today in terms of marketability. That's a plus that I can see from working for Schneider National.

Cons

Lack of communication...lots of secrets and deceitfulness.

Pros

Many great managers, most of them with great knowledge of company and their own job. Most managers have an open door policy and are encouraging to employees. The pay is very comparable to other local companies and benefits are not bad, of course who wouldn't want them to be better, but they are not bad.

Cons

Some mangers should not be managers. There is still fear of layoffs, people aren't feeling as secure as they once were. Although they have been accommodating to me and my schedule, I still feel like my luck will run out soon and if I don't comply I will be out of a job.

Pros

They are a very large company with many opportunities to move around within the organization. There are numerous divisions and lateral movement is encouraged.

Cons

They are so segmented and there is a lack of continuity and cohesion between departments. So much time is wasted in meetings because no one seems to take responsibility for decisions, it's all committee consensus. There are very secretive and don't even allow employees to see an organizational chart. You never know who to contact for information and are not given information on associate locations within an organization (you can schedule a meeting and only later will learn that the person is in another state.) Names are listed in alphabetical order, not by job title. Institutional history is closely guarded, so as a new employee, you are required to depend on others to learn about the culture, the accepted norms, etc. Cubes are the norm, and as a manager you could be located next to an entry level hourly employee. There is no privacy at all. I was there 18 months and was moved four times.
