Pros

Great people, challenging work, a leader in the industry.

Cons

Benefits are below average compared to others in the area, senior leadership does little to inform associates of financial issues, large talent drain due to below average leadership, does not work to mentor/improve talent within the organization.

Pros

Schneider National is a great company to work for if you have a desire to first get into trucking. Their training is an awesome program. Not only will you teach you the basic skills necessary to drive, but they will train you to your specific states' requirements, and will invest in a few attempts at at getting your CDL. They really walk new drivers through the industry with kids gloves. Everything is laid out in front of the rookie, load planning, route suggestions, fuel locations, etc. This will help the newbie to focus on his/her refine his/her skills without worrying too much about the logistics involved. There were almost no downsides as new driver (up to 365 days).

Cons

The Driver Business Leaders for the most part are terrible. They are very patronizing, and often times rude. The bonuses are hard to get and the pay is lackluster. Home time is hard to schedule. (there are many times, even with proper notice, they missed the home time window by several days) Lack of understanding for personal issues; court dates, births, and mortgage signings are unimportant to many of the schedulers. The equipment is not maintained as well as it should be, and they (sometimes) ask you to operate an unsafe vehicle to save a couple hundred dollars on a service call. (instrumentation and potential brake failure) I do not recommended this company for people with over a year of experience.

Pros

Schneider has a liberal hiring policy which allows even the greenest of new drivers to gain a positive place in the trucking industry, there are many great and honest people who work at the Operating Centers who are willing to go out of his or her way to insure that any problem a new or seasoned driver comes in contact with or develops can be quickly and efficiently dealt with. I have had my share of positive situations that could have been ultimately negative had it not been for the quick and resourceful reactions of another OC employee. In particular, the Harrisburg, Pa OC, and the West Memphis, AR OC.

Cons

The upper level management didn't give a care about the drivers, the structure of seniority was very poorly handled, and too many times, outside interests were allowed to influence the decisions made at the corporate office. In particular, the Schneider Finance department is a crooked bunch of people who insure that a driver is approved for a purchase, allow that driver to spend his hard earned money fixing up those pieces of garbage they call lease to own trucks, then when all problems are worked out, they cut the mileages the "owner" gets so he or she can default on his/her payments and then they send the repossession man to pick it up and they resell it at a higher price.
