Pros

The corporate office truly believes in diversity in the workplace and has many employees working in the corporate office over the age of 50. All the employees I encountered at the corporate level were extremely happy and proud of Scripps.

Cons

Unfortunately what the corporate office has strived for is not the case at Scripps Green Hospital. There were lots of derogatory comments made about workers over the age of 50.

PTO is a joke

The physician I work directly with is awesome.

Cons

This is my first time working for a company that takes from your PTO for every single little thing. There is no paid vacation at Scripps, you are paying yourself from your PTO. Wake up, that is NOT a benefit. If you are to leave work early due to an illness or emergency, the time must be taken from your PTO. I would rather not get paid for those hours not worked. This is a huge problem and is detrimental to the employees accrued PTO.

Great benefits, opportunities to work with people who truly care about patients

Cons

The current CEO, Chris Van Gorder, is in the process of transitioning out and the COO, Shiraz Fagan, is being primed to take his place. Chris always made employees feel like they were part of the Scripps family and had a lot of respect for front line workers. Now, it’s all just a numbers game. Scripps implemented forced ranking with their managers this year. Research why companies do this before choosing to join.
