Pros

The company pay their staff well compared with similar companies in the storage industries. Good working environment with sound HR policies with comprehensive health care coverage including adoption assistance & higher education subsidies. Design engineering site in Minnesota, Colorado, California and even Singapore provide opportunities within org. Factory sites in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia & China provide further opportunities for job growth beyond home ground if you are willing. Good expat incentives for Director & above only.

Cons

This is a vertically integrated company. It held an impressive portfolio of technologies and IPs. There were sufficient talent pools within the company to ensure it is always number one. However, the huge downside is management is too top heavy. Too many VPs, Exec Directors, Senior Directors & Directors making decisions focusing on their own turfs and poor execution of products led to losing it's number one position in recent years. Initial management changes implemented by Former but now CEO again Steve Luzos in 2004 was sound with sound long term strategies but ran by the same old veterans who get the company in trouble in the first place in 1990s. Morale is low with recent layoffs. Engineers (likely pay check to pay check) discouraged with across the board 10% wage cuts. Upper management more cuts but were cushioned by company's generous stock options and other bonuses.

Pros

there are numerous reasons so it is hard to say which is "best." However I would say autonomy and interesting technology and opportunities to influence the world of technology.

Cons

Fast pace of change, complex layered company. Things move very quickly. The company has a lot of moving parts. The company has many teams, groups, locations and operations feeding into its business model, which is vertically integrated. It is not always easy to get your arms around the big picture.

Pros

Exciting technology, lots of intelligent people, reasonable chances for promotions with hard work. Decent salary and lots of autonomy. Great technology to work with and a comfortable business environment. Great health benefits.

Cons

Pace of technological change can lead to burn out. Questionable management practices. Endless layers of management. Everything is priority number one, and therefore nothing is done really well. Management sets unreasonable goals that are almost never achieved - this results in a regular feeling of failure. Morale is very low.
