Pros

I must admit, Sedgwick does offer very generous PTO which I've yet to see another company match or exceed. The benefit packages, which begin on the first date of hire, are competitive even though the downgraded their plan options. I love the ability to work from home and the diverse employee discounts. I actually love the job I was "hired to do" and the people I work directly with.

Cons

There is a complete lack of consistency in the areas of management, expectations, and the QA scoring system. The PTO, though generous, is not as flexible or accommodating as one would think. Hiring appropriately is not adhered to by all departments and many of us are forced to shoulder the responsibility of picking up the slack that others are not....without compensation. Raises, by the way, are barely worth mentioning, and are rather insulting. The QA staff are notorious for nit-picking and harsh. The opportunities for advancement are NOT what was depicted in the interview process and most promotions are based on who knows who. The majority of management in my department (including those promoted) all worked together previously with another company. Very disappointing. Even though my numbers are great (and that's all you are to them...a column of numbers) the overall feeling is that you're set up to fail. You thank God every month that you're still there.

Pros

Benefits and co-workers, wear jeans

Cons

Company sales more and more work to clients and expects the adjusters to carry it out...without hiring additional staff. They brow beat, hold back salary increases and expect you to do whatever it takes to get 'their' job done. It is a seriously abusive place to work. They do not have HR..they have CR. YOU have no one to go to..just an 800 number. CR reps do not return calls or respond.

Pros

401K, PTO time, health benefits, education and some very nice co-workers

Cons

Upper management is out of touch. Much of middle management in the claims department is rude and only follows rules that they choose to follow. Qualified employees are burdened with extra work while the younger ones "party" with management after work and later get promoted. One manager openly admitted that they had no clear idea of what the function of the department they were promoted to manage was. Adjusters are expected to carry a very high file count. It is so high that you end up putting out fires and not properly working the files which is not what the customers are paying for. Working late is the norm for those who know what they are doing. It is easier than training new people. As one prior review stated, it is not unusual to see employees crying in the office. After the merger, some people were offered promotions in lieu of layoffs, if they were willing to take a pay cut. Wow - there's a deal! Some people were laid off with no explanation while others were laid off the same day that the jobs they were being laid off from were posted on line.
