Pros

Its a cohort based employment opportunity so you get to learn and grow alongside peers of similar age range and career path. For those who are interested in relocating to KC, its a great way to have a group of people around you for activities outside of work. Personal and professional development is top notch as you rotate every 6 months between the different divisions of SQ. There is so much learning to be had here but its really focused on analytical and technical skills so if you're looking for something other than that, its likely not the role for you. You will learn SQL, Excel, Google Suite, and Quicksight Dashboard creation.

Cons

Due to it's cohort structure there is absolutely zero room for negotiation on salary. They say they try their best to place you in rotations that would fit you and your skillset, but at times you can be placed somewhere that you didn't necessarily want to go to. Because you are rotating around the company and each team has a different structure the hybrid/remote options are ever changing and you are expected to adopt the structure of the team you're on. AKA if they come in Monday-Friday, you are likely required to come in Monday-Friday. Additionally, due to rotations, work-life-balance varies depending on what team you're on and the season of selling its in. So at times you could be rotating on divisions during their busy season, expected to work overtime or enough to cover needs as well as adopting their work life structure for when they come into office.

Pros

The biggest pro was the hands-on sales experience—I definitely learned how to stay composed during tough conversations and pitch under pressure. The fast-paced environment forced me to grow quickly and sharpen my communication skills. There were a few teammates who genuinely had each other’s backs, and that made a difference on stressful days. It’s a place where you’ll gain resilience, if nothing else.

Cons

One of the biggest challenges was the unrealistic expectations set by management. We were often expected to convert low-intent leads—many of whom responded to misleading ads promising free coverage—into high-premium buyers. This created constant pressure to meet aggressive sales metrics with very little support or acknowledgment of how unqualified the leads were. While coaching was available, the overall structure prioritized numbers over strategy or long-term client relationships, which made it difficult to feel successful or truly supported in the role.
