Pros

Selective offers extensive training opportunities and employee engagement events. Their intern program is also excellent. They also partner with local schools for placement of students into cooperative employment positions.

Cons

From my experience there was little to no room for career growth and pay was inadequate. Workload was impossible and never addressed. There was minimal automation or system interfaces with most of the functions I performed. There was no opportunity to work remotely.

Pros

Very good and stable company to work for. Stock incentives, 401k match, and benefits are all GREAT compared to most companies. Big company with plenty of opportunties. GREAT company to work for as long as you aren't in Accounting.

Cons

Accounting department gets treated like CRAP. Accounting department works harder and longer hours than any other department on Salary yet gets paid considerably less than other departments (internal audit, Business Intelligence, etc.). Current controller and mangers of accounting play favorites. If you don't fit their type (prefer females, settled down with family, not outgoing) then you will have a harder time getting promoted. In my 4 years I saw about 20 people quit or take a demotion to get out of accounting, while only seeing 6-7 promotions (all girls except 1)
