Just a mediocre company

Pros

- Fully flexible remote policy; - Some really smart colleagues; - Sometimes interesting and challenging projects;

Cons

- Salaries way below average; - Strong favouritism for those who stay long in the company without good technical skills, you may not question the status quo; - No company culture; - Legacy system with no perspective to get rid of; I would summarize that the remote policy (= fully remote) is pretty much the only big advantage in working here: maybe makes sense for those working from cheaper cost-of-living countries and/or just relocating to Germany.

Thank you for sharing this feedback and sorry that you did not have a great experience at Sellics! I'd like to give some context to the points that you mentioned. - Salaries: we implemented clear career paths and salary bands some time ago. We are assessing the levels of our salary bands on a regular basis ahead of our performance reviews in which we also adjust salaries - often times pro-actively. Based on our research our salaries are in line with our peer set (companies of similar stage and funding). - Favouritism of employees with long tenure: in our engineering leadership (tech lead and head of level) 2 out of 3 people today (July 2021) are employees that have been with the company for less than 2 years. While we are proud to have employees that have been with the company for many years we aim for a good balance between experience and fresh perspective. I agree that this has not always been the case but today, this is where we stand. - no company culture: if you have been with Sellics before Corona you will know that culture has always been extremely important to us and that we had a very strong culture. That said, I agree with you that it has been challenging to maintain our great culture during 2020, especially as we went remote. With our recent decision to become a remote friendly company we have also made it a company OKR for 2021 to re-vitalize our culture for a remote setup. Based on the results of our bi-weekly pulse survey we see that this is already showing an effect as employee satisfaction scores are going up across the board. - legacy system: I'm really surprised to read this as our engineering team spent the majority of 2020 on replacing our legacy system with a new system. This project was successfully completed in Q1 2021. There are some areas which can still be referred to as legacy, but we are aware of them and are working iteratively and expediently to address these as well. I understand that the past 15 months have been rather challenging and I appreciate your feedback. All the best to you and your future career and feel free to ping me if you ever need my help!

Pros

- I’ve been working for this company for 2 years and it is still the best decision I’ve made in my career - Great leadership team! Very transparent, and open communication, they do not only share the positive developments but also challenges, which I’ve never had before. Very open for feedback and suggestions. - The entire team is very international and has a great startup vibe. A couple of pretty senior people joined over the past year or so which has helped to implement the systems and processes needed for growth

Cons

Fast paced company that leads to many changes and it’s not always easy to keep up

Pros

Friendly colleagues, Flexible hours, diversity in employees

Cons

Salary low as compared to industry standards. No benefits or salary incentives. Management does not know what it's doing. Hierarchy is not flat at all, egocentricity runs in the upper management. People are friendly but HR and management conspire against the employees.
