Pros

-Made some really good friends and colleagues at the lower levels of the organization -I was part of a sweep of layoffs. Yep, that’s a pro. I’m finally free.

Cons

-There is one particular leader who has been mentioned in several other reviews. She was the driver of what I felt to be a long-range targeted campaign of harassment and bullying that led to one of the most toxic and stressful work environments I’ve ever been in. Straight up hostile in my opinion. I was always fearing for my job security because it felt like she had a personal vendetta against specific individuals and team(s?) in her dept. We could never figure out why. Many people I spoke with had never even met her face-to-face. My mental health was in the dumpster by the time I was dismissed with zero warning. -Sexism. Female employees were called “girls” regularly by male managers, which was one of the much lighter examples of what I felt was a consistently biased male-dominated workplace experience. In my opinion, it was an old boys club with young faces. - I personally witnessed other ‘isms that I can’t disclose here without revealing myself. This is the type of org I fear would retaliate against me for giving my honest feedback about my personal experience. -All of this was reported to HR by numerous individuals (from what I was told) across teams and functionalities. If HR did address it, I couldn’t tell. Neither could anyone else I spoke with in the department. This individual in leadership continues to work there and she was unprofessional up until the day I was terminated. It felt as if our own HR partner was routinely dodging us because they knew there was nothing that they could do from their position. -I’m afraid of applying to new positions. I’ve lost the confidence I had before Semrush. I’m changed … and not for the better.

Pros

- Exceptional colleagues leading to valuable friendships. - Significant learning and development opportunities before encountering change exhaustion.

Cons

Diving into the world of Semrush lately feels like navigating through a storm without a compass. The vibe has shifted dramatically, and if you take a peek at Glassdoor or just chat around internally, you'll see a sea of negative reviews. It's pretty telling that after the leadership caught wind of this, there suddenly appeared a flood of glowing reviews. Seems like they're trying to paint over the cracks, but it's not fooling anyone. With the job market being as tight as it is, it's no wonder that practically everyone's on the lookout for a new gig. But, finding something better is turning out to be a real headache, which just adds to the frustration of being stuck in a place that's lost its shine. For those just joining, expect to hit the ground stumbling. The system's a mess, communication's all over the place, and figuring out how to succeed feels like solving a puzzle with half the pieces missing. And let's not even get started on the turnover at the top—sales leaders are in and out so fast it'll make your head spin. Everyone's running on empty. Commissions are a guessing game, your accounts might as well have a revolving door, and don't get me started on segmentation—it's a joke. They're pushing us to sell bundles that make no sense for our clients, cooked up by folks who clearly don't get the front line. Speaking up feels like talking to a wall, and the 'or else' attitude isn't exactly motivating. The lack of clear direction, support, or even a sense of stability makes it feel like we're all just treading water, waiting for the next wave to hit. Rumor has it more layoffs are on the horizon, and with the CEO questioning the need for a sales team at all, it's like the writing's on the wall. So, if you're thinking of jumping ship to Semrush, maybe think again. If you're in a tight spot, sure, it might do for now—but keep that resume polished and your options open. From the looks of it, settling in for the long haul here isn't just risky; it's a leap into the unknown with no safety net.

Dear Сolleague, Thank you for the feedback and for bringing to light the aspects that have shaped your experience with Semrush. Let us also provide our vision of the current situation: Over the past six months, we've witnessed a remarkable average performance across all segments in the US, exceeding 100%. It means the plans and goals are achievable and realistic. Furthermore, in our efforts to streamline processes and foster clearer communication, we update our "Sales Rules" document annually. This resource provides detailed insights about our expectations and approaches for different cases. Additionally, it's important to note that we hold a transparent vision and understanding of the Sales organization's strategy for the next years. We’re sorry if these future plans haven't aligned with your expectations. Your concerns are valid, as we recognize that constant changes can be unsettling for employees. Pros

Total freedom when it come to technology and process. Very inclusive culture and colleagues. Distribute and remote working are the standard. Little bureaucracy regardless of the scale. Leaders in their industry. Good pay and benefits.

Cons

As many American companies firing people can be a little too casual, retention should be a focus. It lacks diversity, especially in the tech side. General vision and goals of the company are not always clear. At times little process which leads to things being incoherent. Many changes at higher management level.
