Pros

Semrush is a highly dysfunctional company - management doesn’t have a clear strategy, they are growing haphazardly through seemingly random acquisitions without an idea of resource needs or financial impacts. The company needs an experienced public-company CEO, and especially an experienced public-company CFO - the current CFO is inexperienced and this is not a role for learning on the job. The company has potential but it is time to hire experienced leaders, or it will continue to spin its wheels and lose employees. The company still has consultants in Russia.

Cons

Compensation is not commensurate with the demands, the C-Suite is in above its head.

Dear Sender, We believe this review may not pertain to our company, as our management team is comprised of highly skilled professionals with relevant experience. Additionally, we do not engage any consultants in Russia. Yours, the Semrush Team

A place where innovation is valued

Pros

One of the things I value most about working here is the genuinely inclusive culture—everyone is encouraged to bring their full selves to work, and diverse perspectives are not only welcomed but actively sought out. The company also truly respects work-life balance, offering flexible hours and hybrid work options that allow you to thrive both personally and professionally. On top of that, there's a strong spirit of innovation and agility, change is embraced, and new ideas are met with curiosity and support, making it an exciting place to grow and make an impact.

Cons

Of course, like any growing company, there are challenges. Things move quickly, priorities shift, and sometimes that means needing to adapt fast or operate in a little bit of ambiguity. But honestly, that’s part of what makes it exciting. We’re building and improving constantly, and you get to be part of that evolution. It’s a place where your work really matters.

Stay away from the sales team

Pros

-Other departments in the company seem happy. The positive reviews you see here are not from the sales organization and there are reasons for that. -The product market fit is strong and customers love the platform.

Cons

-The CRO is awful and inexperienced. VP level leaders are not competent either. Everyone has been waiting for the new CEO to fire the entire sales leadership team and bring in actual talent. -There is no sales culture and no trust from the top down. The toxic negativity is felt in every internal meeting I’m in, and there are a lot of those. -Quotas are massive and continue to go up each month despite very few people hitting goal. -Promotions and raises are a joke, and equity is not an option unless you’re an executive. -100% outbound, you’ll get no help from marketing and will source everything yourself.

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. It’s great to hear that you see the strength in our product and have noticed positive vibes in other teams. Sorry to hear you’ve been having a tough time. It might be worth chatting with someone from HR, they're there to help! We’ve seen a lot of good feedback from people in Sales, but that doesn’t mean your experience isn’t valid. If something’s not working, we’d like to understand and support you. There’s already a strong culture of recognition within the team. Things like the President’s Club and equity programs are part of that, but we know there’s always room to grow. We’re doing our best to keep building a place where people feel supported and motivated. That said, Sales can be a high-pressure environment, and the pace isn’t always easy. We’re working on finding the right balance as we grow. Yours, the Semrush Team
