Pros

The leadership team genuinely cares about employee development and creates an environment where program managers can thrive. You're given real ownership over complex, high-impact projects that span multiple engineering teams and product lines. The level of trust and autonomy is what you'd hope for. The technical work is fascinating and highly efficient. Being involved in cutting-edge semiconductor and IoT solutions means you're constantly learning and working on products that matter in the real world. The cross-functional collaboration here is excellent—engineering teams, product management, marketing, and operations all work together smoothly, which makes driving programs forward much more efficient. Work-life balance is respected. Despite of demanding projects and deadlines, there's a strong culture of sustainable performance rather than burnout.

Pros

CEO Leadership Very collaborative company Work is meaningful and you feel like you're contributing to something that makes an impact Small enough that you're able to see the impact you're making Lot of opportunities to grow and challenge yourself Won't ever be siloed into one specific area - able to dive into many different aspects Lot of access to senior leadership Very intelligent and kind people The people are who make the culture Good bonus and equity structures Leaders are pretty flexible

Cons

Fast paced, high volume. Not a con to me but if you don't like that type of environment, probably not the place for you Lot of change, constantly. Again, not so much of a con for me but if you need a lot of structure and consistency - it's everchanging here Comp can be bit under market - it is improving Limited resources

Pros

The IoT division used to be an incredible business with a world leading set of technologies (particularly LoRa) and great momentum in the market. It was a strong, dedicated team of experts who were on a mission. Then the CEO at the time decided to drive the company off a cliff by acquiring Sierra Wireless. Only with the new CEO Mr Hou, does there seem to be a path back from the abyss.

Cons

The previous CEO Mohan Maheswaran drove the company off a cliff by driving the acquisition of Sierra Wireless - all to try to earn an even bigger payout than the many millions he paid himself for working a 1 day week over his 16 years as CEO - and to save the BOD their jobs. He knowingly overlooked misleading false statements on Sierra’s financial & operational performance and outlook - despite the overwhelming evidence showing it was a failing business. Knowing the massive payout he stood to gain even if he was fired (which he ultimately was) he set light to the business for his own personal gain. To do the deal as an all cash transaction (the shareholders at Sierra had enough foresight to know that stock in the new joint company was likely worthless) more or less guaranteed the outcome - slash and burn cost cutting just to stay alive. A true testament to what unbridled human greed and the failure of Semtech’s Board to provide any oversight or protection of the interests of shareholders (vs trying to hang on to their jobs for another decade or so) can do to a business.
