Pros

Employee discount program was always nice.

Cons

Where to begin…. After over a decade of employment with the company, I finally broke free from the stress I was enduring on a daily basis. When your Store Director is so incredibly demeaning to you, that you have anxiety every single morning before walking in the place-that’s when I know things change. Playing favorites is the norm here. It doesn’t have anything to do with if your sales are good, or if you’ve been loyal, but how much you suck up to Directors that counts. Leave for a death or sick member in the family, you’ll have no problem having it granted. But be prepared for the fall out when you return, and being made to feel like YOU did something wrong for taking time to grieve, they instead want you to live and breathe for the company, so much that your health and mental well being suffers from years and years of constant stress there. I have also seen and heard of many department directors who have suffered physical and mental stress due to the pressures being put upon them.

Pros

Payed above minimum wage, friendly coworkers, non-cashiers including store management would jump on the registers/bagging stations to help during major rushes.

Cons

Disgraceful lack of support for employee health and well-being. Had a policy in place when I was there that required a doctor's note for more than 1 day of consecutive sick leave, encouraging if not forcing ill employees to return before they were well. I ended up with a repetitive stress injury bad enough that I had to quit because I was in constant pain. A friend was injured working there and was misinformed by management about worker's comp rights. Corporate management was very disconnected from reality of store operation and kept putting ridiculous policies in place. Probably the most egregious example: their shiny new rewards system had a bug that allowed customer reward points to go into the negative. Rather than fix this, their response was to require a manager from the front desk to come verify EVERY reward point redemption, causing massive and unnecessary delays. I don't know if this was ever fixed, but it was the case for months and months before I left.
