Pros

Pretty good pay. Don't have to do much. Free snacks. Racially diverse environment. We all hated the place together.

Cons

Health insurance doesn't cover birth control; other policies possibly discriminatory to women are present. Uptight dress code - business formal. They mean it - suit and tie every day including Fridays. Higher management seems extremely dense and hard to reach, almost like they are actively trying to un-hear what you're saying to them about process improvements and issues that need their input to resolve. Culture of fear - most of the time people more worried about properly covering their rear end than doing any work of value. Patriarchal culture - wouldn't be surprised if there was a big gender gap in pay too. Culture of mediocrity - no need to do anything better than average. Going above and beyond is punished. No training - you are trained on the job, but it's up to your manager how you are trained. Some get lucky and have a few sessions with their manager; others get nothing and are blamed when things go wrong. High turnover causes a "blind-leading-the-blind" mentality. The company has problems keeping people for good reason - see the other reviews. Operating procedures and job guides are basically non-existent in the corporate flavors division. Negative attitudes from coworkers. In a lot of cases it's "you give us work, we'll give you hell." No bonuses for rank & file staff. The best performers, rather than the best leaders, are promoted. Or you can get promoted by knowing someone. Little reward for hard work, possibly the occasional attaboy if you do something stellar. Layers of bureaucracy, but every layer is full of dense people who again only care about themselves. Most people working there are unhappy and want to move on. This company probably has 3 to 5 years before it is drowning in its own culture and cannot keep up with the turnover.

Pros

There are no pros to working at sensient. The industry, however, is very interesting.

Cons

Expect to work ridiculous hours, and to be available on your few vacation days. Pto and pay are not at industry standard. 95% of positions are not bonus elligible. Hard work is not rewarded. Expect to be micromanaged. Most managers talk out of both sides of their mouth. Atmosphere is stuffy, you will be forced to wear a suit everyday, and there is no casual anything. No advancement opoortunities. All the other negative reviews are true. Stay away!! If I could give 0 stars I would.

Pros

The only pro is the high compensation. High salaries, leveraged with non-compete agreements and the threat of litigation are the only reasons that people stay.

Cons

Everything other than compensation. The company uses whatever leverage they have to coerce vendors, employees and customers to behave appropriately and to "make good decisions". A former executive, upon termination, was quoted as saying "at least I don't have to be an (expletive deleted) anymore!" The good reviews here are highly suspect both in content and tone. Management are master manipulators! They can take a negative, such as forcing employees to give up any semblance of a work/life balance, and phrase it as "the company rewards commitment". Yeah, that means they "own" you 24/7 and you will risk your career if you object for any reason.
