Pros

Monday through Friday with holidays off. Pay and benefits are decent for what we do.

Cons

Work is repetitive and tedious. Current supervisor is very into micro-managing. There is no autonomy whatsoever. Very difficult to move upward. Very low morale among co-workers. No employee incentives at all.

Great Boss but poor management

Pros

My immediate boss is amazing and so are the people I work with.

Cons

Senior management in this company is, for the most part, retired military so they are steeped in the military mindset and can't get away from it. Meaning, they are the leadership and we should bow to their every whim and treat them as gods. The ones I have met have no idea how to deal with people, how tos peak to people, and how to treat people to keep them. They say folks don't quit jobs, they quit their boss. In my case my immediate boss is amazing, it's everyone above her that is abyssmal. I'm not convinced any of them have any kind of training on how to deal with people. I'm not convinced any of them understand that without employees, they'd have no business. Our office has 3 times the workload of other offices yet we have half the employees. When we inquired as to why that is, we were told "It is what it is."

Career Counselor Position

Pros

Good job if you are getting your foot in the door or just starting out in counseling, teaching, or working with transitioning Veterans. You will get a lot of teaching hours and lots of one-on-one time with your clients.

Cons

Your week will be scheduled by the half hour. Finding time to go to the doctor, schedule a vacation, or any type of personal activity will be difficult. The job is billed as a salary position, but hourly attendance is strictly monitored.
