ServiceMaster has great associates and lots of areas of improvement

Cons

Executive leadership is disconnected from associates and strategic direction is not filtered in a way that's meaningful to the average associate. There's perceived favoritism and cultural values/behaviors are not consistently reinforced.

Pros

The work is stable and easy. Management is pretty relaxed and easy to get along with.

Cons

Pay sucks if you are a day porter/janitor. Teammates are hit or miss and are often quite lazy. You might have issues if you don't speak Spanish.

Pros

It was a good thing to have done, providing me experience in a unique culture. The pay was not bad.

Cons

I think that ServiceMaster grapples with balancing their culture between strong christian based beliefs and the reality that their business model requires regular layoffs of significant portion of employees. This layoffs are driven by business cycles that are unavoidable in more than one of their portfolio of operating companies.
