DO NOT WORK HERE

Pros

Occasionally allow for personal time off

Cons

Where do I begin? This company will hire you on and let you know you will be handling a few cases and within a few months have about 25-30 cases by yourself. This is a lie. The turnover rate is so high here that as soon as you start, someone is quitting. When someone does quit, regardless of how long you have been there, you receive up to 50-75 cases. The "training" is a joke. You get hired with little to no knowledge of legal practices, and yet are expected to take on cases after two weeks. During training, it is a burden to ask questions, and most of the time you are being trained by someone who has little to no experience themselves. The management here is awful and hateful. The minute you become overwhelmed and ask for help, they offer help for the first week and then slowly watch you fail. This employer pushes its employees to quit. They offer an incentive reward if goals are met each moth, but make them impossible to attain. They also refuse to give any raises, no matter what your performance shows or how long you have been with them. If you care about helping people or have an ounce of personal respect for human kind....this job is not for you. They expect you to keep your head down, mouth shut and don't question anything.

Pros

- Growing Firm - Family feel more than strict corporate - Fair amount of PTO given - Allows employees to go negative in PTO if not enough is built up yet - Closes for all major holidays and then some - Periodic early release leading into a holiday - Bonuses in place to motivate and reward hard work - Fair pay for the position and work required

Cons

- No health benefits - Turnover has been high, so it can put some additional work on your plate, but the majority of the turnover is from people who don't want to work, show up regularly, or on time.

Pros

You have the flexibility of deciding how to go about your work. Most of the employees are either young adults working to establish their footing in the field or well-tenured folks well versed with the company; meaning, everyone is amenable and easy to get along with. You get a full hour of lunch.

Cons

The turnover rate is insane. People leave and get fired almost weekly. Management is poorly done. The few folks that have stayed around are hanging by a thread and ridiculously over worked. The training is atrocious. Yes, they try to walk you how to do your job; except there isn't a designated trainer instead they pretend their plan is to have you learn "hands on" by throwing you around shadowing current employees for a week after a rushed and poorly executed walk through of the ancient server they use. The poor training then spirals into poor case work and poor case work increases issues with client cases. The strategy is not impossible IF there is consistent follow up to help encourage and correct appropriate behaviours, which they don't have. Inconsistency is the only consistent trend throughout the firm. Caseloads are poorly distributed. Some attorneys are "on probation" and not taking cases while others are drowning. Established attorneys also "inherit" lingering files; most of which are in awful shape. Circling back to to the high turnover and inefficient training. Employees are either "roughing it" through the files because they didn't learn how to do their job thoroughly. Consequently, and in contradiction of the "benefit of getting to work your own file" - teams with higher workloads are held to the same metrics that fresh caseloads are. Ironically, most of the teams with the higher caseloads are LESS staffed and helped than those with new and lower cases. Resulting in a lovely circle of burnt-out case managers feeling unheard and inadequate. But hey, one Wednesday a month you get to drink Publix wine with your peers and on holidays they decorate with recycled dollar store supplies so morale should be excellent! There are no benefits. Which is disclosed up front but followed by constant false promises. For months, they offered potential health insurance "soon." For PTO you only get 10 days and the rate of re-accumulating it is below average. There is no COVID time off. There is no maternity/paternity leave. They DISCOURAGE any work from home arrangements. They are parsimonious/cheap. The computers cause significant troubles for their users. The server is outdated. Their providers are atrocious and equally as poorly organized. Most of the office chairs are broken - further supporting their egregious lack of care for the ergonomic accommodations they should provide for their employees. The CEO/Founder beautifully fits the stereotype of an arrogant, disconnected attorney. He openly admits to not wanting to spend his time learning people’s names or stories, he hires people to do that for him. He also has detached patient care from case value. No empathy for his employees or clients. The CFO is another un-charming character. After being hired, he brings you into his office and showers you with a memories soliloquy to paint you an image of how much of a baddie he his. It is reminiscent of a bad first date with a narcissist. He lacks the tact a person in charge should hone. He also spends his down time watching employees through the cameras in the office and requesting other managers deliver his complaints of employee behaviours.
